GALA ND/SMC, is pleased to host the Fifth Annual NYC LGBTQ Student Scholarship Benefit taking place on Sunday November 17, 2019 at 4:00pm. The benefit will be hosted once again by Phil Donahue ’57 and his wife Marlo Thomas’ at their beautiful apartment overlooking Central Park.
Join fellow alumni and friends for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and camaraderie to raise money for the LGBT Student Scholarship Fund. Since the fund’s inception, members & friends have contributed over $175,000. Our goal for this year’s event is to hit the $250,000 five-year campaign target!
This will be the final year that this event will be hosted at this venue, so don’t miss out attending this truly unique and special time!
Student Speaker – Joining us for the afternoon will be 2018/2019 Student Scholarship Recipient César Moreno ND ’20. César is a senior at Notre Dame majoring in Chemical Engineering, Neuroscience and Behavior, Pre-Med with a minor in Biomolecular Engineering. They are currently studying abroad in Puebla, Mexico.
In addition to the main event, there will be a unique opportunity to talk with host Phil Donahue ’57 at a special VIP Reception starting at 3:00pm.

Discounted registration levels are offered for GALA dues paying members ($125) and for students & recent ND/SMC grads ($25 & $50 respectively). Scholarship Donations – Even if you are unable to attend the benefit, you can still help out by making a donation to the scholarship fund here.
Alumni Weekend – This fundraising event will be part of an overall NYC Fall Alumni Weekend. Additional events are planned over the three days (Friday Nov 16 – Sun Nov 18):
- Welcome Dinner – Friday November 15th, 8:00PM – Crispo
- Game Watch – Saturday November 16th, Kickoff 2:30PM – The Ainsworth
- Celebration of Mass – Sunday November 17th, ~11:30AM – TBD
- After Party – Sunday November 17th, 6:30PM – Therapy
Silent Auction – Items will be available for bidding at the benefit. Items are currently being sought. Popular items include: Restaurant gift cards, unique experiences (such as brewery or winery tours), entertainment (Broadway shows), travel (such as hotel, flights, etc), signed ND memorabilia.
