Fourth Annual GALA ND/SMC NYC Alumni Fall Weekend November 16 – November 18, 2018

GALA ND/SMC is happy to sponsor our Fourth Annual New York City Alumni Fall Weekend from November 16 to November 18, 2018.  There are a number of planned events for GALA members and friends to enjoy over the weekend.

Welcome Dinner – Friday November 16, 2018 7:00PM – Aria Wine Bar (369 West 51st Street Between 8th & 9th)

Start your weekend with an authentic Italian meal in the company of other ND/SMC alums.  Located in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, Aria is a cute neighborhood wine bar serving delicious appetizers and pasta dishes along with an extensive wine selection.  

A special fixed price menu of $125/person has been prepared for our group.  Dinner will include a five-course meal including a meat & cheese selection, appetizers, salad, main course of various pastas and dessert.  All courses are served authentic family-style with generous portions.  Price includes all food, unlimited wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee, tax & gratuity.  Special menu requests can be made.

Pre-Game Tailgater – Saturday November 17, 2018 – Harlem – 11:00AM

Heading to the ND football game at Yankee Stadium?  Stop by for a pre-game “tailgater” hosted by NYC Co-Chair John Flanagan ’93 at his home in Harlem.  Traditional tailgate food & beverages will be provided.  Donations welcome to support NYC GALA chapter programming.  (No prior registration required)

Location:  300 145th St, TH 7 (Take ABCD train to 145th stop) and is only a 20 minute walk or 2 stops on the D train to Yankee Stadium.

Game Watch – Saturday November 17, 2018 – Boxers (Chelsea) – Kickoff 2:30pm

Not going to the game at Yankee Stadium?  If not, join other alums as we cheer on the Fighting Irish against the Orangemen of Syracuse.  We will be meeting at Boxers in Chelsea (37 West 20th St).  Kickoff is at 2:30pmAnd don’t forget to wear your ND attire! (No prior registration required)

Celebration of Mass – Sunday November 18, 2018 – 11:30AM – St Francis Xavier (W 16th St)

After the big game on Saturday, come together with other NYC Catholics to celebrate mass.  We are happy to have as our hosts the parish of St Francis Xavier, located at 46 W 16th St (between 5th and 6th Ave).  St Francis has a very active LGBT ministry, and welcomes everyone to join in their services.  Prior registration here is encouraged (but not required) to save space for everyone. 

Brunch to follow at Almonds (12 East 22nd St) in the Flatiron District, 10 minute walk from the church.

LGBT Student Scholarship Benefit – Sunday November 18, 2018 4:00PM

GALA ND/SMC, is pleased to host the Fourth Annual NYC LGBT Student Scholarship Benefit to take place on Sunday November 18, 2018.  The benefit will take place once again at Phil Donahue ’57 and his wife Marlo Thomas’ beautiful apartment overlooking Central Park.

Join fellow alumni and friends for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and camaraderie to raise money for the student scholarship fund.  Our goal for this year’s event is $50,000.

In addition to the main event, there will be a unique opportunity to talk with host Phil Donahue ’57 at a special VIP Reception starting at 3:00pm (limited to 12 people).

After the successful scholarship benefit, relive the highlights from the weekend in a casual setting.  Everyone will be meeting at Boxers Upper East Side (1664 3rd Ave).  Food and drinks will be available for purchase. (No prior registration required)
